William Wagner Obituary

William (Bill) C. Wagner, 76, of Muscatine, IA, died peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, with family by his side, after battling several health issues for the last 8+ years.

Bill was born February 22,1950, in Chicago, Illinois.  He was the son of Charles Wagner and Barbara Wagner of Cicero, IL.  

He was a graduate of Morton East High School in Cicero, Class of 1968, and later attended  Monmouth College, earning a Bachelor’s degree. Bill also served in the Army Reserve from 1970 – 1976.

He married Diane R. Wagner on February 21, 1971, in Berwyn, Illinois.  The two resided in Monmouth, IL, and Springfield, Tennessee, before moving to Muscatine, IA where they have lived for the last 48 years.

Bill worked in the petfood industry for Doane Products Company in Muscatine, followed by the Kent Corporation until his retirement in 2018.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane Wagner; three sons, Jeff (Ashley) Wagner, Anthony (Mimi) Wagner, and William Jr. Wagner (Pam Knight); and his grandchildren, Sophie, Amaya, Jackson, and Miles Wagner. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Wagner. 

Bill enjoyed watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He loved playing golf at Geneva with his friends, family dinners, and teasing his grandchildren.
