In retirement, Schootch and Sharon spent extended vacations in Hawaii and Florida as well as many trips to Las Vegas.

Walter will be deeply missed by his family and friends.  He is survived by his children, Linda Willet of Muscatine; Kevin (Barb) Paul of Muscatine; Jeff (Kelli) Paul of Coralville; 7 grandchildren, Marcy (Brig) Van Der Woude, Halie (Joey) Slawinski, Rylie Paul, Lauren (Eric) Bracken, Caleb (Jennifer) Paul, Will Bobst, Alex Paul, 2 great grandchildren arriving this summer, special cousins Judy Cravy Summerhill, June (Jim) McIntosh, and Joyce Sorensen, and his sister-in-law Elaine Todd and fiancé Todd Bates.
