Virgil Duane Truesdale

Virgil Truesdale, 79, of Fairport, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Unity Point Health Trinity in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Burial will take place at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society  in memory of Virgil. Virgil Duane Truesdale was born on May 24, 1943 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Oddie and Velma (McKillip) Truesdale.  Virgil worked for years at the Fairport Marina and boat dock where he met and assisted many boaters with docking and gas.  In the years following he enjoyed driving his golf cart around town and assisting with facts and questions for anyone who asked.  His cats loved him and would follow Virgil in groups wherever he went and he had names for each and every one of them.  Virgil and his brother Jerry were inseparable and could often be found tinkering in their shed.

Virgil was the self-proclaimed mayor of Fairport and will be missed by a large number of Fairport residents, past residents and friends who frequented the Fairport Marina.  He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (James) Ash, nieces and nephews and close friend, Dean Cole

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry Truesdale and sister, Janet Hipshur.
