Theodore K. Small, 93, of Letts, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Lutheran Living. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Letts United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Letts Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Theodore Keith Small was born on November 27, 1928 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Horatio and Christine (Smit) Small. Theodore graduated from Letts High School and attended Iowa State University. Theodore then went on to serve in the United States Army from 1951-1953. On August 9, 1953, Theodore was united in marriage to Phyllis L. Beckman at the Grace Lutheran Church in Prairie Grove, Iowa.
Theodore’s passions in life were farming, family, his community and church. He served as 4-H leader, 4-H council representative, past president of the Louisa County Farm Bureau, district representative for Heifer International, and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Theodore was a lifelong member of the Letts United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for many years and served as building chairman of the education addition.
Theodore will be deeply missed by his wife, Phyllis of Letts; children, Elaine (Mike) Gardner of Carlisle, Massachusetts, Keith (Deborah) Small of St. Louis, Missouri, Evelyn (Jay) Hollingworth of Commerce City, Colorado and Alicia (David) Rigsby of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Matt Gardner, Caleb and Jordan Small, Tetiana Hollingworth, and Meredith and Katharine Rigsby; and sister, Norma Van Ryswyk, of Muscatine.
Theodore was preceded in death by his parents.
