Shirley Marlene Hopkins, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on July 22, 2022, at her home in Muscatine. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Muscatine Humane Society in memory of Shirley. Shirley Marlene Terrill was born on August 4, 1932, in Mercer County, Illinois, the daughter of George Washington and Martha Pearl (Kallenberger) Terrill. On October 25, 1948, Shirley was united in marriage to Robert B. Hopkins in Iowa City, Iowa. She worked at Ring King Visibles and is a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Shirley is a member of the Church of Christ of Latter-day Saints and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed camping, BINGO, playing cards, Sunday family dinners and listening to Blue Grass Music, even closely following the bands and their crew, but most of all, she dearly loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her children, Russell (Angela) Hopkins of Muscatine, Susan (Richard) Jones of Muscatine, Robert (Loretta) Hopkins of Wapello, Sheri (Todd) Nylin of Keithsburg, Illinois and Timothy (Monica) Hopkins of Muscatine; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Virginia Rohr-Hopkins; four sisters and three brothers.
