Shirley J. Dismer, 85, of Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine with Rev. Bill Walker officiating. Visitation for Shirley will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine. Shirley was born May 29, 1936 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Gus Harry and Nira Ellen (Yerington) Corporon. She worked as an in-home caretaker for over 30 years and provided private care at Clark Towers and Hershey Manner. She resided and cared for Mary Phelps for 8 years. Shirley also drove taxi for Port City for 14 years.She was a member of Glad Tidings Church in Muscatine. Shirley enjoyed reading her Bible and playing Yatzhee and Bingo. She loved her dog, Ruby and spending time with her family.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her children: Shirley Goodwin of Muscatine, Iowa; Rocky (Kathleen) Moore of Muscatine, Iowa; Patricia Carter (Bart Jacobs) of Muscatine, Iowa; and Vernon Allen of Muscatine, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Kathy Moore of Wapello, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers: Charles (Rose) Sterner of Muscatine, Iowa and Merle Sterner, Jr. of Wilton, Iowa; sister, Charlene Shoppa of Muscatine, Iowa; brother-in-law, Duane Van Winkle of Port Byron, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Moore; daughter, Gertrude Moore; and sisters: Bertha Schroeder, Nellie Lowe and Nina Van Winkle.
