Sharlyn Pearl (Van Est) Plowman

Sharlyn P. Plowman, 56, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at her home. A Memorial Celebration will be held on Sharlyn’s birthday, Monday, January 19, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Inurnment will be in Island Cemetery.  Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Community Room.  Memorials may be directed to the Bible Missionary Church or the Muscatine Humane Society in Sharlyn’s name. Sharlyn Pearl Van Est was born on January 19, 1969 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Richard L. and Sharon E. (McCormick) Van Est.  Sharlyn graduated from Muscatine High School in the class of 1988.  On May 22, 1993, Sharlyn was united in marriage to Troy H. Plowman in Muscatine, Iowa.  She had worked as a cook and dishwasher at both Diamond Daves and Happy Joes in the recent years.  Sharlyn loved dogs, especially her beloved, Sadie.  She enjoyed swimming and was active with Special Olympics in golfing, soccer and cycling.  She also participated in the Strikers League at the RoseBowl.

Sharlyn is survived by her step-father, Elmer Millage of Muscatine; step-sister, Kim (Aaron) Waack of New Boston; step-brother, Scott Millage of Wapello; uncle, John Crumbly; nieces and nephews, Eugene, Kason, Skye, Briley, Tristan, Katie, Kiristin, Christopher, Damon, Brody; great nieces and nephews, Harper, Elise and Jordyan; mother-in-law, Alice Winkel and her cousin and best friend, Sherri Peterson.

Sharlyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Troy and brother, Kevin Van Est.
