Scott Soy

Scott Soy, 62, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Service of Muscatine.  Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be left to the family in memory of Scott. Scott Soy was born on February 7, 1964 in Fort Dodge, the son of James and Darlene (Houseal) Soy.  He managed Donut Land in Iowa City, worked for the Muscatine Journal, Door Dash and he was a property manager.  Scott was an avid bowler in Muscatine, Durant and Columbus Junction, achieving five 300 games.  He also enjoyed fishing, Mexican food, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes and Caitlyn Clark.  Scott was an umpire and coach for many years.  He loved making people laugh and bragging about his kids and grandkids.  They were his pride and joy.

Scott will be deeply missed by his children; Zazil “Saucy” DeAlba, Christopher Soy, Victoria (Elmer Santiago) Soy, Sabrina (Dawson Krise) Soy and Brandon (Isabella Gonzalez) Soy, all of Muscatine; grandchildren; Arianna, Alex, Aiden, Korbin, Kailani, Liam, Sebastian, Elias and one on the way, Scott; siblings, Deanna (Kevin) Clevenger of Letts, Chris (Michelle) Soy of Eldridge, Greg (Lisa) Soy of Columbus Junction and Brenda (Ken) Grouwinkel of Muscatine and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Bertha Soy, maternal grandparents, Don and June Houseal; parents, James Soy and Darlene Letts and his best friend, Ernie Perez.
