Sarah Machholz, 88, of Spencer, formerly of Muscatine, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Spencer Hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Wapello. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 1:30p.m. at Wapello Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the family in memory of Sarah. Sarah Ann McNamer was born on August 25, 1936 in Grandview, the daughter of Lee Roy and Sophie (Cupps) McNamer. She attended Grandview High School. Sarah worked at the County Home in Bloomfield from 1955 to 1966. She was united in marriage to Melvin “Bud” Machholz on June 20, 1956. They welcomed their two boys, Fredrick and David into the world. She enjoyed tending to their large garden, fishing, reading, puzzle books, playing bingo, jigsaw puzzles, watching the Game Show Network, old classic reruns, all Iowa Hawkeye games, taking small road trips to see nature and wildlife, being around people and most all, she loved being with her family.
Sarah is survived by her sister, Mabel Shepherd; sons, Fred (Dorothy) and Dave (Chrystal) Machholz; granddaughters, Morgan and Tara Machholz and great-grandchildren, Adriel Ceniceros, Willow, Ivy and Neakita Webster.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Sophie McNamer; husband, Melvin “Bud” Machholz, sister, Lila (Ron) Jones; brothers, Bill Wade, Jim (Shirley) Wade and Guy (Pearl) McNamer; great-granddaughter, Kaiah Webster and brother-in-law, John Shepherd.
