Rodney "Rod" Zaehringer

Rodney “Rod” Zaehringer, 71, of Muscatine, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital. No services are planned at this time. Rod was born May 19, 1953 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Katherine (Weaver) Zaehringer. He worked for Hackett Construction for many years and with his friend, Kevin, doing cement and brick work. He loved to work whether that was his day job or remodeling his home in his free time. He also enjoyed visiting Mike’s Hilltop Tap.

He is survived by his children: Vanessa Zaehringer (Chris Wallace) of Muscatine; Andrew Zaehringer of Iowa City; and Marsha (David) Schlicht of Pella; grandchildren: Madeline and Alaina Wallace, Matthew and Michael Simons, and Nikki Purcell; siblings: Donnie Zaehringer of Muscatine; Willard Zaehringer of Muscatine; Ronnie Zaehringer of Muscatine; Glen (Jan) Zaehringer of Grandview; Kathy (Roger) Hake of Muscatine; Sandy Zaehringer of Muscatine; Charley Zaehringer of Muscatine; and Brad (Sheri) Zaehringer of Muscatine; many nieces and nephews; and his best friends: Dave and Barb Housley, Todd and Trisha Hackett, and Kevin and Sandy Silverhorn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
