Robert “Bob” W. Sloat, 62, of Muscatine, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Bob’s name. Robert Wayne Sloat was born October 12, 1963 in Davenport Iowa. He was the son of Eddie and Marjorie (Ziegenhorn) Sloat. Bob was a graduate of Muscatine High School in the Class of 1982 and had also attended Muscatine Community College. On October 15, 1988, Bob was united in marriage to Julie Ann Schenkel in Muscatine, Iowa. Bob had worked for G.P.C. for 35+ years, retiring in 2019 and was later employed at Ed Morse as a bit of a hobby job. He was a member of Calvary Church. Bob loved collecting gas pumps, oil cans and other similar memorabilia, was a NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan and deer hunting in his younger years. Bob enjoyed welding, gardening, fixing things and time spent in his shop. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Julie of Muscatine; daughters, Emilie (Jeremiah) Kaufmann and Rebecca (Tye) Hardman of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, Jackson, Benjamin, Elaina, Violet, Vivian, Eve, Ezra and Silas and one sister, Vanessa Burch of Florida.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
