Robert Whitlock, 82, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Lutheran Living in Muscatine. A Celebration of Life for Robert will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from noon until 6 p.m. at the Muscatine American Legion. The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Service of Muscatine is caring for Robert’s arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscatine American Legion in memory of Robert. Condolence notes may be left for the family at sandhfuneralservice.com.
Robert Irvin Whitlock was born on March 17, 1939, in Iowa City, the son of Robert Earl and Edna (Moomey) Whitlock. He was a 1957 graduate of Solon High School. Robert served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1968, serving in the Panama Canal. He was united in marriage to Charlene Volkl on July 27, 1961 in Muscatine. Robert worked for the C.P. Railroad for 33 years. He was a lifetime member of the Muscatine American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge, and served as board director for Mainlands while in Pinellas Park FL. Robert was a volunteer EMS in Florida and volunteer fire fighter in Durant. He enjoyed bowling, cheering for the Hawkeyes and most of all, spending time with his family.
Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, Charlene of Muscatine; children, Michelle Morgan of Muscatine, Diana (Blake) Holmes of Eldon, MO, Joan Whitlock of Muscatine, Robert Carl (Tracey) Whitlock of Crown Point, IN and Jennifer (James) Diveney of Muscatine; grandchildren, Jill Schmidt, Austin Schmidt, Sarah Honts, Ryne Honts, Sydney Kirk, MacKinsey Orr, Saige Whitlock, Brianna Morton, Jared Morton and Codi Holmes; many great-grandchildren; granddaughter-in-law, Heather Allen; brothers, John (Connie) Whitlock of Muscatine and Bill (Phyllis) Whitlock of Nichols.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Josh Allen.
