Robert M. Smith, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Pinnacle Memory Care, Muscatine. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Home for Funeral & Cremation Services. Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Community Room. Visitation for Robert will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Robert’s name. Robert M. Smith was born on February 3, 1937 in Iowa Falls, the son of John O. and Gladys M. (Strahorn) Smith. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Iowa City High School. On August 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to Judy A. Gingerich in Iowa City. Bob had worked as a board draftsman at Stanley Consultants for 25 years and later at H.O.N. for another 25 years, retiring in 2002. Bob loved his family, enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River, vacations at the Lake of the Ozarks and loved roller skating in his younger years.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Judy of Muscatine; children, Randy (Darla) Smith of Iowa Falls; Sherry (Keith) Miller of Muscatine and Danny Smith of Davenport; five grandchildren, Samantha (Jake) Raney, Alyson (John) Rabe, Ashley (Carsen) Anderson, Ryan (Cahleen) Miller and Cameron Miller; twelve great grandchildren, Anabelle Miller, Sage Miller, Ivy Miller, Beau Miller, Madison Raney, Mya Raney, Mason Raney, Reese Rabe, Trey Rabe, Owen Anderson, Gaven Anderson and Jaxen Anderson and close family friend, Dale (Debbie) Holtz of Muscatine.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Delbert and Dorothy Gingerich and brother-in-law, Jerry Gingerich.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff at Pinnacle Memory Care and Unity Point Hospice for their exceptional care of Robert and their unwavering support of Judy and the family.
