Robert Briggs Obituary

Robert W. Briggs, 84, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at his home.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Interment will be in Letts Cemetery with Military Rites by the Muscatine County Honor Guard, Inc.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Robert’s name. Robert William Briggs was born on May 2, 1938 in Louisa County, Iowa, the son of Lewis Harry and Merle Cleo (Reid) Briggs.  Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  In November of 1962, Robert was united in marriage to Jean Emerson, the couple later divorced but remained friends spending all holidays and celebrations together for many years.  Robert retired from R.R. Donnelly after several years of service.  He enjoyed fishing, going on family trips, spending time with his grandchildren-being known as Grandpa Bobby to all, b-s****ing with friends and family, watching professional wrestling and westerns and spending time outdoors at his place on the Skunk River while enjoying a beer.   

Robert will be deeply missed by his children, Diane (Terry Benac) Briggs of Muscatine, Patrick Briggs of Medford, Oregon, Sarah Benac of Muscatine and William Briggs of Muscatine; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Lois Larson of La Habra, California and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty Jean Briggs, Patricia Glenn, Orville Briggs, Phyllis Lindle, John Briggs, Junior Briggs and Mary Gillette.
