Rita Huddle Obituary

Rita Ann Huddle, 65, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

She was born June 18, 1959, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late John William "Bill" and Donna (Hall) Keener.  She was a graduate of Princeton High School and continued her education at Illinois State University earning her master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology. On June 11, 1983, she married Les Huddle, and he survives.

Rita worked as a Speech and Language Pathologist for 30 plus years with a focus in early childhood. Her most recent employment being with GLASS Special Education Services in Lafayette.

She had a passion for caring and helping people.  Her children and grandchildren were her absolute focus in life but as a Speech and Language Pathologist those she helped, worked with, and knew became family as well.  She was an avid reader who also enjoyed traveling and recently expanded her interests to gardening in retirement.  Being born in Pennsylvania she became a Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan early in life.

Along with her husband, Les, she is survived by her 3 children, Andrew Huddle of IL.;  Thomas (Erielle) Huddle of Buffalo Grove, IL.,  and Kelly (Sam) Wiseman of Chicago, IL.; 2 grandson’s,  Hunter  Huddle and Graham Wiseman; 2 granddaughters on the way; 2 brothers, John (Valerie) Keener of Princeton, IL., and  Daniel (Yolanda) Keener of Silver Spring, MD.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, John “Bill” and Donna Keener, as well as a brother, Christopher Keener.

Visitation will be from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm (EST), Monday, May 5, 2025, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.

Her family family will also receive friends from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am (CST), on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 616 S. Gosse Blvd., Princeton, IL 61356.  Under the direction of Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services.
