Rick Rubendall Obituary

Rick A. Rubendall, 71, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.  Per Rick’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in memory of Rick.  Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for Rick’s family and arrangements.

Rick Alan Rubendall was born on March 18, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Harold Napoleon and Alice Myrtle (Lightfield) Rubendall.  He was a 1971 graduate of Waverly-Shell Rock High School and received his Associate Degree from Muscatine Community College.  Rick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, spending 12 months in SE Asia.  On November 10, 1973, Rick was united in marriage to Karon Sue Wehrhan in Waverly, Iowa.  Rick worked for Muscatine Power and Water for 35 years as an Auto-Cad Technician.  He was a member for the Peace United Methodist Church.  Rick was an ordained minister, presiding over the marriage ceremonies of his daughter, granddaughter and had planned to preside over his son’s marriage in September of 2025.  Rick loved to spend time with his family and text inspirational Bible thoughts Monday through Saturday to friends and family. 

Rick will be deeply missed by his wife, Karon of Muscatine; his children, Shawn Rubendall of Muscatine, Melinda (Chris) Green of Wilton and Alicia (David) Wada of Wilton; grandchildren, Tyler Fowler and fiancé, April Daniels, Samantha (Nathan) Ormsby, Zach Rubendall, Trey Sulzberger, Kammeri Sulzberger, Peyton Elliott and Dane Wada; great grandchildren, Theo Fowler, Alexis Daniels, Caiden Daniels, Noah Ormsby, Brayleigh Sulzberger and Quinton Fender; half-brothers, Kenneth Benhan of Texas and Larry Benhan of Texas; half-sisters, Yvonne Hafer of Texas and Tammy Miller of Texas and his dog, Jack.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and half-brothers, Bruce and Scott Benhan.
