Richard Duncan Obituary

Richard Gilbert Duncan, 87, of Columbus Junction, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Lutheran Living Senior Campus in Muscatine. Interment will be private. Richard was born June 9, 1935 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Merle and Lavern (Leffler) Duncan. He attended school in Columbus Junction and served in the United States Coast Guard. Richard was united in marriage to Delores Brockert on March 30, 1963 in Lone Tree, Iowa.

Richard worked various jobs throughout his life including construction, farming, factory work and as a Riverboat Captain. He retired from Doane Products in Muscatine. Richard loved arrowhead hunting and attending Knap Inns and hunting and eating mushrooms. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed collecting old tools.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Delores Duncan of Columbus Junction; son, Kevin (Teresa) Duncan of Muscatine; son, Darrell Duncan of Columbus City; and daughter, Sheila Duncan of Keokuk; grandchildren: Breelyn, Brayden, Bryna, Rachel and Shaylee; great-grandchildren: Raelyn, Isabella, Gabriel, Samuel and Kyleigh; and sister, Joanne Murdock of Muscatine. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Valerie; infant brother, Russell; brothers: Kenneth, Lloyd and James; and sisters, Arlene and Merlene.
