Richard E. Castle Sr. 93, of Letts, formerly of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at his home in Letts. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at High Prairie United Methodist Church. Burial will be in High Prairie Cemetery. Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the High Prairie United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Richard. Richard Edwin Castle was born on November 5, 1931, in Rock Island, Illinois the son of Arnold and Inez (Hessman) Castle. On June 11, 1950, Richard was united in marriage to Gladys A. Barnhart in Cranston, Iowa. Richard drove semi for 20 years and was also owner and operator of RB Enterprises. He was a member of High Prairie United Methodist Church. Richard enjoyed sports and family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard will be deeply missed by his children, Richard “Eugene” (Pat) Castle Jr. of Muscatine, Randy (Debbi) Castle of Muscatine, Ron (Tracy) Castle of Muscatine, Rick (Ann) Castle of Moscow, Marilyn (Tim) Shaw of Muscatine, Carolyn (John) BeVier of Muscatine; bonus daughter, Erin Dindinger (significant other, Bruce Lipkowitz); 13 grandchildren and 2 bonus grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; 2 bonus great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Earl Price; wife, Gladys and brother, Arnold Castle.
