Richard Bean

Richard Bean, 61, of Mediapolis, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Celebration of life services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the American Legion Hall, 98 Oaks Street, Mediapolis, Iowa. Memorials may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 284, Mediapolis, Iowa, 52637 in memory of Richard. Richard Leighton Bean was born December 3, 1961 in Kossuth, Iowa, the son of Jack and Lila (Rettowksi) Bean. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Bean on May 14, 1982 in Oklahoma. Richard was a jack of all trades and worked various jobs which included farming, plumbing and as a mechanic. He enjoyed working on bikes, cars, trucks and 4-wheelers. He loved going on the water and mushroom hunting. His greatest joy in life came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his children: Lindsey Bean-Jordan (Scott) of Mediapolis; Jacklyn Kapsch of Oklahoma City, OK; Josh (Emily) Todd of Oklahoma City, OK; and Tabitha Nesbitt of Ft. Madison; grandchildren: Richard Cochran of Mediapolis; Catherine and Chloe Jordan of Mediapolis; Katelyn and Trevor Kapsch of Oklahoma City, OK; and Devon Todd of Oklahoma City, OK; great-grandson, Rayden Cochran; sisters: Cathy Coen of Burlington and Gayle Sholfe of TN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl; brothers: Jerry, Danny and Jim Bean; and sister, Janet Beik.
