R. Harris Gipple, 84, of Columbus Junction passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at him home. As with his wishes, his body has been deeded to science through the University of Iowa for scientific purposes. Rex Harris Gipple was born on April 3, 1941 in Muscatine, the son of Rex Hunter and Lorna Mae (Warner) Gipple. Harris graduated from Winfield High School in 1959. He served in the National Guard in Washington. Rex was united in marriage to Sharon Curry on August 1, 1965 in Muscatine. They later divorced. Harris retired in 2019 after working several years as a truck driver for various places including Shelmann Trucking and Farmers Corp in Winfield. He enjoyed reading and watching TV.
Harris is survived by his children, Brian (Josie Kronaizl) Gipple and Michelle (Mike) Berry; grandsons, Alex (fiancé, Jenna) Berry, Isaac Berry, Vashti (Kevin) Mejia; great-grandchildren, Freya, Amelia and Genevieve; nieces and nephew, Lisa, Lynette and Kane and friends, Dan Wilson and Ron Curry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Loretta Springer.
