Randy Phillips, 38, of Columbus Junction passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at his home. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Roundy Elementary School Gymnasium in Columbus Junction. Burial with Military Honors will be in Columbus City Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for Randy will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Thirsty Camel Supper Club, Conesville. A memorial has been established for the family in Randy’s memory. Randall Jeffrey Phillips was born on November 29, 1987 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Jeffrey and Jane (Holderness) Phillips. Randy attended Columbus Community High School and earned his GED along with other college credits from Muscatine Community College. Randy Proudly served his Country in the United States, Army Reserves from 2009-2017, he was a Sargent attached to the 389th ENCO out of Middletown. while enlisted he deployed to Iraq as part of Operation New Dawn in 2011. On April 8, 2006, Randy was united in marriage to Jamie Phillips at the Letts United Methodist Church. Randy had previously been employed at Bayer Corporation and was currently serving as Director of Operations for the Columbus Community Schools. Randy was a member of the Columbus Junction American Legion, Freemason at Columbus City Lodge 107, and a KAABA Shrine member. He loved smoking food and even operated a little catering business on the side known as “LBR’s” Catering Service. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, racing, spending time with their family dogs Kama and Bella, wrestling, and hanging out with his “wrestling family.” More than anything else, Randy was a family man who dearly loved and supported his family in everything they did. He proudly attended many of his children’s sporting events and activities.
Randy will be deeply missed by his wife, Jamie Phillips of Columbus Junction; children, Cael Phillips, Trevor (Alyssa Lenz) Phillips and Jalynn Phillips, all of Columbus Junction; bonus daughter, McKaylyn (Ivan) Moedano of Muscatine; bonus granddaughter, Alonna; his parents; Jeff and Jane Phillips of Columbus Junction; siblings, Kelley (Nic) Rosenboom of Fruitland and Trent (Rachel) Vrchoticky of West Liberty; nieces and nephews, Emma and Tyler Rosenboom and Taylor and Makayla Vrchoticky; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rocky and Judi Phillips; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Steve) Reynolds of Fruitland; brother-in-law, Rocky “Big Dog” (Michelle) Phillips of Washington; nieces and nephews, Kynzee Dahnke, Waylin Reynolds, Fred, Rory and Esther Phillips; Jamie’s grandfather, Buck Phillips; many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends, Matt and Missy Lenz and Dan and Jamie Runnells and their children, Bryar, Bailey and Brody; special military friends and all of the CJ/WMU wrestling family.
Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jerry and Dorothy Phillips, Jim and Marlene Holderness; uncle, Mike Phillips; Jamie’s grandparents, Sue Phillips, Thelma Jean Brauns and Fred Humiston.
