She was born on January 29, 1932, to Frank and Eugenia (Mougin) Klein and was a 1950 graduate of Tiffin High School. On October 24, 1951, she married Donald “Dutch” Latta, and they raised five children in Riverside, Iowa.  Phyllis worked at People’s Trust & Savings Bank in Riverside. She was a familiar face for customers for over 50 years.

She was a devoted member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She could play a mean euchre hand and could be found on Thursday afternoons playing with her “euchre ladies.” She perfected the art of making piecrust and kolaches. Phyllis was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed many years of tailgating and attending the football games with her sister, Dozy. In more recent years, she loved traveling and making memories—and a few shenanigans—with her good friend, Marge Schnoebelen.

She is survived by her daughters, Jennie Brantman, Jill Gerot (Dan), Ellen Finnegan (Jim), and Kerry Campbell; grandchildren, Adam Brantman (Karley), Jake Gerot, Jessi Kuhn (Taylor), Jeffrey Campbell (Ellie), Katelyn Campbell (Kendon Hanson), Julian Finnegan, and Lauren Finnegan; six great-grandchildren, June, Ruby, and Dutch Brantman, Cameron and James Campbell, and Sawyer Kuhn; her sister, Jane Doyle of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald “Dutch” Latta; her son, Jeff Latta; her siblings, Carolyn (John) Moreland, Clayton (Katherine) Klein, Cletus (Marcella) Klein, Dorothy “Dozy” Seemuth, Frank (Beverly) Klein Jr., and Victoria McNeil; brothers-in-law, John Moreland, Duane Latta,  Ronald “Claude” Latta; her sisters-in-law Marcella Klein, Beverly Klein, Katherine “Kitty” Klein, Delores Latta; and nephews, Tom Moreland, Gary Klein, Joseph Klein, Mike Latta, Frank Moreland, Keith Klein and Conan Doyle..

Phyllis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Her lively spirit, zest for life, devotion to family, and love for friends and community will continue to inspire all who knew her.
