Phyllis Fuhlman-Beck

Phyllis Fuhlman-Beck, 92, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Lutheran Living.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at New Era Lutheran Church, 3455 New Era Road, Muscatine, Iowa.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on November 8, 2023 at the church.  Following Phyllis’ funeral service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at New Era Lutheran Church.  Graveside services will follow the luncheon at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for New Era Lutheran Church in Phyllis’ memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.sandhfuneralservices.com.

Phyllis Dorothy Jens was born on November 30, 1930, the daughter of Fred and Dora (Meyer) Jens.  Phyllis was a 1949 graduate of Muscatine High School.  On September 16, 1951, Phyllis was united in marriage to Clayton Fuhlman in New Era, Iowa.  Clayton preceded Phyllis in death on March 18, 1992.    Phyllis later was united in marriage to Edwin F. Beck on October 26, 1996.  He preceded her in death on October 7, 2006.  Phyllis retired after working almost 26 years for HON Industries.  She was a life-long member of the Ziegler Memorial Lutheran Church, which today is known as New Era Lutheran Church.  She also was a member of the WELCA.  Phyllis enjoyed canning, cooking, baking and flower gardening.  She would often attend the HON retiree’s gatherings, class reunion luncheons and the American Legion Post #26 with her husband, Edwin.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by her children, Phillip (Jan) Fuhlman and Sheila (Mark) Neal; 2 step-granddaughters, Desiree (Denis) Demers and Dawn (Glen) Dusenberry; step-great-grandson, Nathan Schmitt; step-daughters, Cythnia Peterson and Deborah (Ned) Schmidt and several nieces, nephews and extended family.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clayton Fuhlman; second husband, Edwin Beck and siblings, Wilfred (Martha) Jens, Loren (Virginia) Jens, Vera (Raymond) Miller, Violet Messinger, Delores (John) Strong and Betty (John) Snider.
