Penny Powell Obituary

Penny Lee Powell, 74, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at  Lutheran Living.  A celebration of life for Penny will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Muscatine American Legion.    Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date.  A memorial has been established in Penny’s name.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine are caring for Penny’s arrangements. 

Penny Lee Hahn was born on October 1, 1948 in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Louis Willard and Clarabelle Maude (Anderson) Hahn.  On July 14, 1991, Penny was united in marriage to Richard Eldon Powell in Muscatine.  Penny was a housekeeper.  She attended Sycamore Baptist Church.  She enjoyed collecting rocks, angels and hummingbirds; spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and in her younger days skating. 

Penny will be deeply missed by her husband, Rich; daughters, Jelene Kay Purinton and Lesa Ann (Ryan) McFarland, all of Muscatine; grandchildren, Dakota Whitlow, Austin Harris, Johnathan McFarland, Ryle Ann Maelee McFarland, Mark McFarland and Ryan McFarland; brother, Frank Hahn and several nieces and nephews. 

Penny was preceded in death by her parents; twin daughters Sheila Ann Purinton and Sherry Ann Purinton; infant daughter Jeanie Sue Purinton; brothers, Donald Hahn and Kenneth “Casey” Hahn and sisters, Loretta Hahn, Darlene Obanion, Claudette Constable and LouAnn Warnstaff.
