Paul H. Wonders

Paul Wonders, 92, of Wapello, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his home in Wapello.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello.  Military Rites will be at 4:00 p.m. prior to the start of visitation.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservices.com.

Paul Herbert Wonders was born on July 22, 1934, in Keithsburg, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Madeline (Hartman) Wonders.  He was a 1952 graduate of Wapello High School.  Paul proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korea Era from 1952 – 1956.  On January 23, 1965, Paul was united in marriage to Kathryn Louise Hawn in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois.  Paul retired from H.J. Heinz of Muscatine in 1996.  He was the Treasurer of the Wapello Athletic Boosters and a member of Ducks Unlimited, where he carved many wooden decoys for their banquets.  Paul was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers.  He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, hunting, fishing, reading and watching Westerns.

Paul will be deeply missed by his sons, Mark (Chris) Wonders of Wapello, Troy (Mona) Wonders of Washington and Noel Brooks Wonders of Wapello; grandchildren, Alexandria (Matt) Stevens, Aerial Wonders and fiancé, Brett Timmerman, Aaron (Brenna) Wonders, Gates Wonders and Lane Wonders; great-grandchildren, Maylee Smith, Chevy Smith, Hayden Wonders and Emri Wonders and siblings, Tim Wonders of Morning Sun, Geri VanDolah of Morning Sun, Sophronia Jarrard of Columbus Junction, Cheryl Hamilton of Morning Sun and Jeanne (Eric) Wonders-Wagner of Wapello.    

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathryn and brothers, Danny Wonders, Greg Wonders and Larry Sedam.
