Paul Elshoff Obituary

Paul Elshoff, 67, of Fruitland, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at The University of Iowa and Hospitals Clinics.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Burial will be in Island Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Paul’s name.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Paul was born on February 27, 1954 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of John B. and Rita Baker Elshoff. He graduated Louisa-Muscatine High School in 1972. He served as a Military Police Officer in the US Army as a Vietnam Era Veteran. Returning to Iowa after military service, attended the Iowa Police Academy, serving in communities such as Winfield and Conesville, Iowa and become a Deputy Sheriff in Muscatine County. He then began working for the Muscatine County Highway Department, and serving as a Teamster union steward, until leaving public service, and becoming an environmental inspector – traveling all over the country for work ensuring construction projects minimized disruption to our planet. Paul was married to Pam Poggemiller Ramer, and Jan Kurriger Teel.

In 2000 Paul married Linda Krenz Elshoff, just celebrating 21 years of marriage. Paul retired in 2020. He loved spending time with his band brothers Lefty and The Spinners and proudly celebrated being inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, but mostly he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and is equally proud of all of his children, and believes all are equally as funny as he is.

Paul will be greatly missed, and is survived by his wife, Linda of Fruitland, his children Allison and Mike Ritchie of Muscatine, Kenneth and Sara Elshoff of Durant, and step-son Devin Krenz of Muscatine, also 7 grandchildren: Frankie Gusta, Bethany Nikki Friend, Kenneth Caden Salemi, Jadalyn Elshoff, Jagger Elshoff, Zoe Krenz, and Drew Krenz. Paul is also survived by his special friend and mother in law Mary Louise Phillips, of Wapello, Iowa, and best life-long friend and “brother from another mother” Ken Carpenter. Paul is also survived by his brothers  James and Margo Elshoff of Texas, John and Beth Elshoff of Muscatine, Tom and Joy Elshoff of Muscatine, Douglas and Karen Elshoff of Fruitland, many nieces and nephews and sisters/brothers-in-law.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Rita, his brother Patrick Elshoff, and a brother Dennis Elshoff in infancy.
