Paul Thomas Delzell was born on October 27, 1943 in Morning Sun, Iowa, the son of Robert and Marie (Christner) Delzell. Paul was a 1962 graduate of Morning Sun High School. Following high school, he enlisted into the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for the next four years before returning home to Morning Sun. On October 26, 1968, Paul was united in marriage to Judith Ann Hamilton at the Methodist Church in Morning Sun. Paul began working at the Morning Sun Grain Elevator and then began his career with the United States Postal Service. He was a mail carrier in Clinton and then moved to Fulton where he served as Postmaster. He retired in 2005 with over 40 years of combined service. In his retirement years, Paul worked as the office manager for the Fulton Presbyterian Church. Paul was a member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church and also sang in the church choir; and was a member of Kiwanis Club and Y’s Men’s Club. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to golf. Above all, he was most proud of his family, children and grandchildren. He was the “best grandpa of all” to his grandkids - never missing the opportunity to support them in all of their activities.
Paul will be deeply missed by his wife, Judi of Fulton; daughter, Stephanie (Eric) Smith of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; son, Chad (Stacey) Delzell of Camanche, Iowa; grandchildren, Spencer and Hallie Smith and Caleb and Michael Delzell and brother, Raymond (Donna) Delzell of Wayland, Iowa.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Delzell and sister, Diana Bernhart.
