Oscar Anthony Alcala

Oscar Anthony Alcala, 21, of Lockridge; passed away Monday, November 17, 2025.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10:00 A.M at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbus Junction. Burial will be at the Columbus City Cemetery following the service.  His family asks that those in attendance to the Mass wear white in Oscar’s memory.  In lieu of flower memorials in Oscar’s name may be made to the family.    Online condolences may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.   

Oscar Anthony Alcala was born on July 26, 2004 in Prescott, AZ to Monica Ortiz.  He was a 2023 graduate of Columbus Junction High School and was on the basketball team and the soccer team.  Oscar had just started working at Brava in production.  He loved collecting HotWheels.  Oscar loved spending time with his friends and family; he was the light of the party at any get together no matter the size.  If you had something left on your plate that you didn’t eat or didn’t like, all you had to do was look for Oscar and he would eat it for you.  He loved to travel, especially visiting family in Mexico.  Oscar was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction.

Oscar will be dearly missed by his mom Monica Ortiz (Moises Martinez); siblings Gabriel Alcala (Faith Barnhart), Alexa Alcala, and Juan Alcala; nephew Vinny Alcala; grandparents Gaudencio and Esperanza Ortiz; his wife Makenna Heyn; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear boyz.

Oscar was preceded in death by his great-grandfather Jamie Ortiz, who he shared a special bond with.
