Norma Jean (Kerr) Hostetter

Norma Jean Hostetter, 96, of Wapello passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Wapello Specialty Care surrounded by her family.  Private family services will be held at a later date.    Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Norma Jean. Norma Jean Kerr was born on September 28, 1928, in New Port, IA, the daughter of Rex and Ruby (Herr) Kerr.  Norma was a 1947 graduate of Morning Sun High School.  On February 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald Hostetter.  Norma Jean raised her children and helped on the farm until her children were grown. She would also babysit.  Norma Jean then worked as a cook at the Yarmouth Café for 25 years.  She enjoyed reading, flowers, crossword puzzles, collecting dolls and hunting for geodes with her grandchildren, known as “rocking”.  Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Norma Jean will be deeply missed by her children, Chris (Don) Harter of Burlington, Mike (Pam) Hostetter of Moore Haven, Fl, Connie (Doug Wallman) Harris of Yarmouth, Mary (Bill) Ivins of Mediapolis, Sherri (Donnie) Metzger of Morning Sun, Boone Hostetter of Yarmouth, Rod (Darcy) Hostetter of Sperry and Jane (Brad) Quigley of Wapello; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Helen Rahmiller, Marjorie Otto, Milton Kerr, Merle Kerr and Rober Kerr; two sisters-in-infancy; great-grandson, Jonathon Hostetter and son-in-law, Jeff Charbonneaux.
