Obituary

Noel Fay Townsley, 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Southport Square in Port Charlotte.  Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Oakgrove Cemetery, Letts, Iowa, north west of Cranston. Military Honors will be performed.    Following graveside services, the family will greet friends at a luncheon being held at the Columbus Junction American Legion from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023.  Memorials have been established for Louisa County 4-H or Grandview-Letts Lions.    Online condolences may be left to the family at www.sandhfuneralservices.com. Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Columbus Junction is caring for Noel’s arrangements and his family. 

Noel Fay Townsley was born on July 1, 1934 on a farm in Muscatine County, the son of Forrest and Ethel (Snyder) Townsley.  Noel attended country school and graduated from Letts High School in 1952.  Noel proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1958, stationed in San Antonio, Texas.   On December 13, 1953, Noel was united in marriage to Emily Estle at the Letts United Methodist Church.   Noel farmed, sold seed corn and raised tomatoes for Heinz Company.  He was a past member of the Letts United Methodist church and currently was a member of Punta Gorda Methodist Church.  Noel also was a member of Grandview-Letts Lions, Farm Bureau; served on conservation and condo boards; and was very active with 4-H.  He enjoyed traveling, fishing, sailing and camping. 

Noel will be deeply missed by his wife, Emily; sons, Mike (Diane) Townsley of Deep River, Iowa, Greg (Dana) Townsley of Wapello, Chris (Susan) Townsley of Haines City, Florida and Randy (Annette) Townsley of Letts; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Suzanne Bolton of Oregon; sisters-in-law, Sandra Townsley of Florida and Cheryl Townsley of Boone, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Noel was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Craig and Terry Townsley and brother-in-law, Christopher Bolton.
