Nina Bishop Solomon

Nina Bishop Solomon, 64, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals. She was born on August 16, 1961, to Evelyn June Beeding and George Earnest Ford, and was later lovingly raised by her stepfather, Ralph “Bud” Clayton.

Nina lived a life defined by generosity, resilience, and an open‑door heart. She was always in motion—helping, caring, giving, and making room for anyone who needed a place to land. Over the years, her home became a refuge for countless children. She often joked that while some kids bring home stray cats and dogs, her kids brought home stray kids—and she welcomed every one of them as her own.

Nina was also an organ donor, a final act of compassion that perfectly reflected the way she lived: always giving, always helping, always thinking of others.

She is survived by her children: Trisha Larson; Don (Amber) Bishop; Gabriel Bishop; Brandi Long; Jeff (Tyanna) Chapman; Amanda Hodges; Jody Solomon; Jan (Sabrina) Solomon; JD Solomon; Chalee (Drew) Ehrman; Shawna (Tom) Tabor, Stacy (Mitch) Howards and Nicole Solomon. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 5 great‑grandchildren, each of whom brought her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn June Beeding and George Earnest Ford; her stepfather, Ralph “Bud” Clayton; her son, Ralph “Buddy” Bishop; and her husband’s Don Ibbotson and Leo “Gene” Bishop.

In her later years, Nina shared her life with her husband Jerry Solomon, with whom she built a home filled with laughter, family, and unwavering companionship.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Wapello Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the countless lives she touched.  The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Wapello is caring for Nina and her family.

Nina’s legacy is one of kindness freely given, love without limits, and a spirit that made everyone feel like family.
