Nellie Joanne (Duncan) Murdock

Nellie Joanne Murdock, 85, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Lutheran Living. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at Greenwood Cemetery.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Nellie’s name. Nellie Joanne Duncan was born on March 26, 1937 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Merle and Laverne C. (Leffler) Duncan.  She was first united in marriage to Ronald Fuller.  The couple later divorced.  Nellie then was united in marriage to Virgil Murdock March 6, 1961.  She graduated high school and also attended beauty school.  Nellie worked as a hairstylist for 28 years and ran her own shop out of her home “Dream Look Beauty Nook”.  She was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges.  Nellie enjoyed gardening, sewing, making porcelain dolls and was known to be a jack of all trades. 

Nellie will be deeply missed by her children, Susan (Charles) Davis of Green River, Wyoming, Shirley Freeman of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Kay (William) Miller of Muscatine and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; sons, Randy and Jeffrey Murdock; step-son, David Murdock; brothers, Richard, Kenneth, Lloyd, James and Russell Duncan and two sisters, Arlene Jobe and Merlene Kraft.
