Naomi Jane (Wehmeyer) Murdock, 88, of Conesville, IA died peacefully April 1, 2021 at home. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Conesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Good Samaritan Society Hospice of Ottumwa in memory of Naomi. Online condolences may be sent to sandhfuneralservice.com. Naomi was born June 10, 1932 to August and Jessie (Bennett) Wehmeyer. She married Bob Murdock on April 29, 1950 at the Lone Tree United Methodist Church.
Naomi graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1949. After graduation she worked for Smothers Insurance, their farm in Conesville and later she worked at Northrup King, ACT and IBP in the cafeteria. Bob and Naomi farmed in the Convesville area for their entire life and ran Motts Melons in Conesville. Naomi was on a bowling league and a member of the Eastern Star in Columbus Junction.
She loved mushroom hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, canning and spending time with her family. She spent countless happy hours caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Naomi is survived by her four children, Bob Murdock and wife Lisa of Niles, MI, Linda Nicklin of Douds, IA, Mike Murdock and wife Susan Iehl of Cedar Rapids, IA, Julie Denkmann and husband Ron Westaway of Muscatine, IA; 10 grandchildren, August Murdock, Susan Roach, Tim Murdock, Holly Boykin, Gabe Murdock, Brandie Metcalf, Ryan Horak, Steve Denkmann, Sam Rendon and Zack Barnhardt; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon Hall and husband Oran of Lone Tree, IA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Jessie Wehmeyer; husband, Bob Murdock; son, Rick Murdock; daughter-in-law, Teri Murdock and her dogs, Taz and Weenie.
