February 22, 1944 ~ September 12, 2023 (age 79) 79 Years Old
Nancy Sturms, 79, of Nichols, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine. Burial will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Nancy’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. .
Nancy Ann Thorndyke was born on February 22, 1944 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of John and Janet (Hansen) Thorndyke. She married Harold “Butch” Sturms on June 13, 1961 in Davenport. Nancy worked at Heinz, then Model Laundry until they closed and finally at All American Care Center. She enjoyed trips to the casino, spending time at the cabin and fishing. Most of all, Nancy loved being with family, especially her grandchildren.
Nancy will be deeply missed by her children, Sherry Lynn (Dennis Laymen) Sturms-Hazen of Ainsworth; George (Paula) Sturms of Muscatine; grandchildren, Matt Hazen, Adam (Cathy) Hazen, Brett Hazen, Chasity Barclay, Dan (Kassie) Sturms, Josh (Maria) Sturms, Scott Bigger and Miranda Sturms; great-grandchildren, Mason, Kevin, Kayden, William, Hunter, Charlee, Remi, Jonathan, Isaac, Lilly, Rylan, Hailey, Jaime, Ali, Hunter, Jorge, Mikey, Alexis, Aleah, Stormi, Savannah, Vanessa and Noah; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Laura Sturms; sister, Elda Thorndyke; brothers, Bob, Bill and Pete Thorndyke and one nephew, Tom Keeler.
