Nancy K. (Mills) Burr

Nancy Burr, 73, of Lone Tree, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at her home in Lone Tree.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree.  Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery.  Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.sandhfuneralservice.com. 

Nancy Mills was born on December 23, 1948, the daughter of Donald and Marie (Rathjen) Mills.  She was a 1967 graduate of Lone Tree High School and then received her R.N. Degree from St. Luke’s Nursing School in Cedar Rapids.  On August 22, 1970, Nancy was united in marriage to Alan Burr in Nichols, Iowa.  Nancy worked as an R.N. early in life and then became a homemaker, taking care of her family and much more.  Nancy was a past member of T.T.T.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, yard work, baking, taking care of baby calves, Sunday 4 o’clock treats, the holidays, genealogy, especially “Find a Grave” and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye men’s basketball fan, but most of all, she dearly loved to spend time with her family.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her husband, Alan of Lone Tree; her children, Kelli (Peter) Hajda of Lone Tree and Amy (David) Schmucker of Lone Tree; grandchildren, Madeline, Isaac, Caleb and Amelia Schmucker; siblings, Judith Bender of Kalona, Virgil (Deb) Mills of West Branch and Michael (Nancy Ryder) Mills of Nichols and sister-in-law, Lorrie Walker of Moscow.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Timothy Mills and two sisters, Ramona Holcomb and Christine Mills.
