Muriel Metz Obituary

Muriel R. Metz, 90, of Riverside, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Atrium Village in Hills.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Riverside. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Burial will be in the St. Vincent Cemetery.  Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.  Memorials have been established for St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Riverside and Atrium Village of Hills.    Online condolences for the Metz’s family may be sent to www.sandhfuneralservice.com. 

Muriel R. Rummelhart was born on May 17, 1935, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Laverna (Gringer) Rummelhart.  She was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Riverside. On August 3, 1957, Muriel was united in marriage to John Bernard Metz at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Muriel worked for the University of Iowa in the Children’s Health Specialty Clinic.  She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing cards.

Muriel will be deeply missed by her children, Carrie Peitzmeier of Grimes, Christine (Tom) Welte of Richmond, Janice (Greg) Thomann of Riverside and Timothy (Lisa) Metz of Riverside; grandchildren, Lauren (Sam) Conaway, Allison (John) Lorenzen, Mitchell (Kassi) Thomann, Abigial (Gabe) Crall, Molly (Jared) Barthelman, Megan (Cody) Kanke and Anna (Parker) Elwell; great-grandchildren, Levi, Tessa, Ben, Oscar, Charles, Lucas, Olivia, Thomas, Wylie, Maria, Sully, Louis, Clay, Cael, Noah, Niah, Camden, Cade and Layla; siblings, Leroy Rummelhart of Coralville, Helen Studnicka of Florida and Paul (Patricia) Rummelhart of Hills and several nieces and nephews. 

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; great-grandson, Hudson John; brothers, Kenneth and Duane and sister, Mary Yeggy.
