Milton H. Hayes

Milton H. Hayes, 91, of Wapello passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. A Celebration of Life for Milton will be held at a later date.  Memorial have been established for the Wapello Fire Department and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in Milton’s name.   Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello is caring for Milton’s arrangements.

Milton H. Hayes was born on August 17, 1934 in Wapello, Iowa, to Sumner and Belva (Hamilton) Hayes.  Milton was a graduate of  Wapello High School.  Milt farmed all of his life and was a USDA Inspector also.  Milton attended Calvary Church; he loved riding in the gator with his dog, Archie and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. 

Milton will be deeply missed by his wife, Carol; children, Chad Hayes of Wapello and Nanette Hayes of Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren; step-son Melvin (Tammy) Paetz; step-grandson, Jeffrey Paetz, Jr; sisters, Bev Paris of Wapello and Marilyn Lynch of Washington and daughter-in-law, Amy Hayes.

 Milton was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nile Hayes and brothers-in-law, Bill Paris and Duane Lynch.
