Michael "Mike" Wakefield

Michael “Mike” Wakefield, 70, of Grandview, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at his home with his beloved family by his side.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Victory Christian Center, 122 9th Street Columbus Junction with a luncheon to follow; family asks that those in attendance wear jeans and flannel shirts. Michael “Mike” Wakefield was born December 18, 1955 in Muscatine, Iowa to Delbert R. and Joyce Elaine (Sissel) Wakefield Jr.  He married the love of his life, Cindy Olson in 1990.  Mike loved working with his hands and could often be found working on various projects in his garage.  He loved to spend time in the outdoors fishing and just being with his family.  When his health got bad, Mike enjoyed watching old Western’s and NASCAR.  Mike retired from Bandag (now Bridgestone) after 30+ years as a Maintenance Technician. 

Mike will be missed by his wife of almost 40 years Cindy; children Amy (Demetrio) Antonio and Shawn Wakefield; grandchildren Shania (Andres, Jr.) Lagunas, Anthony Vargas, Kaleb Reyes, David Wakefield, Sebastian Antonio, and Alex Antonio; great-grandchildren Lilly, Heavenly, and Quincy Lagunas; siblings Marla Wakefield, Lisa Munson, and Delbert Wakefield, III.

He was preceded in death by his father Delbert (Dorothy) Wakefield, Jr; mother Joyce (William) Estabrook; and siblings Todd, Ronald, and Dick Estabrook.
