Michael was born May 20, 1946 in Covington, Kentucky, the son of Paul and Adele Elizabeth (Ashford) Hughes. He graduated from Holmes High School in 1965 and from the University of Cincinnati in 1967.
Michael worked as a Structural Design Engineer. While in Cincinnati, he worked for AM Kinney as a draftsman, P & G in pipe design and Fernald Nuclear in structural design. He also worked in structural and pipe design in Illinois and Iowa. He worked for oil companies in Houston, Texas and Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
He loved engineering and seeing how things worked. He took apart his first Christmas watch and put it back together. He also enjoyed computer programming and classical, 70’s and 80’s rock and big band swing music. Michael liked history and he lived to see how technology spurred development of American industrial might!
Michael will be dearly missed by his sisters: Adele Larkins of Tennessee; Rebecca Brooks of Kentucky; and Jannell Croft of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Paul Thad Hughes, Earl Gregory Hughes and Jonathan Lee Hughes.
