Mervin D. Preston

Mervin D. Preston, 71, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at his home.    No visitation or services will be held.  Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services is in care of the arrangements.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Mervin’s name. Mervin Duane Preston was born on January 25, 1954 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Orland Gilmore and Rose Mae (Harris) Preston.  On August 11, 1988, Mervin was united in marriage to Kathryn Marie Ulman in Davenport, Iowa.  In his free time, Mervin enjoyed going hunting, fishing, rough-housing with his beloved chihuahua, Peanut and more than anything, spending time with his grandchildren.   Mervin will be remembered as a loving individual always putting others before himself. 

Mervin will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathryn of Muscatine; daughters, Tonya Sue (Charles) Schamerhorn and Jessica Marie (Justin) Estes all of Davenport; five grandchildren, Michael, Alissa, Madison, Noah and Ivy-Lynn; one brother, Darrel “Dean” Preston of Muscatine and many nieces and nephews. 

Mervin was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leroy, Bud, Dick and Melvin Preston and four sisters, Darlene Forbes, Judy Dengler Bermal, Jean “Birdie” Estabrook and Lilly Marsh.
