Melvin D. Alloway, 91, of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2023 at Aspire of Muscatine. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Columbus City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Melvin’s name. Melvin David Alloway was born on November 17, 1931 in Columbus City, Iowa, the son of James Clarence “Bruno” and Alta Maud (Bond) Alloway. Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1948-1952. He worked as a sales manager for many years, finishing with his favorite job at Big River Guns. On July 7, 2007, Melvin was united in marriage to Donna Godden at New Hope United Methodist Church. Melvin was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and enjoyed tinkering in his garage, boating, fixing sewing machines, attending car shows, riding motorcycles and most of all spending time with his family.
Melvin will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna Godden-Alloway of Muscatine; children, Brian (Mari) Alloway, Brenda (Jeff) Dahnke and Laura Alloway all of Muscatine, and Jeannette (Chris) Martin of Burlington, Vermont; step-children, Jennifer (Chad) Noble of Sioux Falls, SD and Keith (Meredith) Radig of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and brother, Merlin Alloway of Muscatine.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Trombley and several brothers and sisters.
