Melchor "Slim" Ramos Jr.

Melchor “Slim” Ramos Jr. 87, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction.  Burial will be in Conesville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Melchor Ramos Jr. was born on June 4, 1939 in Del Rio, TX, the son of Melchor and Delfina (Garcia) Ramos Sr. He was united in marriage to Enriqueta “Kathy” Cuellar on December 25, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Church in Del Rio, TX. Slim worked for Rath Packing, IBP and Tyson.  He enjoyed music and creating art with matchsticks.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Slim will be deeply missed by his wife Kathy; children; Cindy (Nasario) Castillo of Columbus City and Peter Michael (Raquel) Ramos of Muscatine; grandchildren. Ashley Castillo, Jay (Mayra) Castillo, Jessica (Harold) Ramos, Venesa Ramos, Michelle Ramos and Emma (Carlos) Ocampo; great-grandchildren, Anthony Acevedo, Bella Acevedo, Lily Castillo, Jagger Castillo, Maia Molina-Gamez, Liya Molina-Gamez and many extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Paula Marin and brothers, Adrain Ramos, Raul Ramos and Ernesto Ramos.
