Mary “Poppie” Daedlow, 75, of Burlington, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at her home in Burlington. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral& Cremation Services of Mediapolis. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to PAW Animal Shelter in Fort Madison in memory of Mary. Mary Ann Curley was born on July 3, 1951, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of James Louis and Shirley Lou (Eastburn) Curley. She was a 1969 graduate of Apollo Burlington High School. She was the National 10 Key Champion in 1971. On November 30, 1974, Mary was united in marriage to Dennis Gordon Daedlow in Mediapolis. She worked as a legal secretary for Cray Law Firm in Burlington, Shearer’s in Burlington and was a sales associate for Younkers Home Store in West Burlington where she retired. Mary was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis and then the Presbyterian Church in Burlington serving as a Deacon. She was also a member of the Burlington High School Steperrettes, Burlington Country Club, and New Crystal Lake Club in Gulfport, Illinois. Mary enjoyed gardening, golfing, detailing around the house doing small projects and attending sporting events, but most of all, she loved to spend time with her daughter and grandchildren and was an unconditionally devoted dog mom to her beloved goldendoodle, Benelli Drake.
Mary will be deeply missed by her daughter, Marianne Denise Briggs of Burlington; former son-in-law, Michael Edward Briggs and his parents, Michael Joseph Briggs and Susan Diane Briggs; Michael’s brother, Randall Joseph Briggs and niece, Emmie Jayne Briggs; step-son, Darren Alan Daedlow of Waukee, Iowa; grandchildren, Matthew James Briggs of Iowa City and Lauren Aubrey Briggs of Burlington; sister, Barbara Jean Drew of Burlington and nieces and nephews, Gina Drew, Ryan (Amy) Drew, Megan (Ed) Melcher, Leah (Elijah) Waterman, Ryan (Dionne) Daedlow, Michelle (Chad) Zear and Nathan (Emily) Daedlow.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; sister, Janice McCoy; brother, Steven Curley; sister-in-law, Dianne Kay Daedlow; brother-in-law, Alan Aubrey Daedlow; parent-in-laws, Aubrey and Margaret “Peggy” Daedlow and her dog, “Ben”.
