Mary McDonald Obituary

Mary D.  McDonald, 92, of Fairport passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at her home.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  Immediately following the burial, a celebration of life for Mary will be held at the American Legion, Muscatine.  A memorial has been established in Mary’s name.   Sympathy notes may be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Mary Dipple was born on May 24, 1931 in Muscatine, the daughter of Wilbur and Lydia (Truesdale) Dipple.  Mary attended schools in Muscatine County.   She married Marvin L. McDonald in Fairport.  Mary was a homemaker caring for her family which was everything to her. Along with caring for her own family, Mary spent her life caring for children in Fairport and commonly was referred to Grammy, Granny or Mom by all who loved her.  Mary also enjoyed tending to her yard.  She touched the lives of many, and everyone was family to her. 

Mary will be deeply missed by her children, Douglas McDonald of Fairport, Tim McDonald (Nancy Marx) of Muscatine, Lori (William) Hopkins of Fairport and Leanna (Ross) Resetich of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and sister, Iona Irwin of Muscatine County. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; sons, Gary and Randy McDonald; daughter, Diannia McDonald; siblings, Louis, Larry and Wilbur, Jr. Dipple and Isabel Tompkins and great-grandchild, Khloe Elizabeth Hopkins. 
 

Mary’s family is very grateful to St. Croix hospice care for their care and support.
