Marshal “Pete” F. Peterson, 81, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello, formerly the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Marshal F. Peterson was born on April 7, 1938 in Oakville, Iowa, the son of Arthur L. and Blanche H. (Youngman) Peterson. Marshal was a graduate of Burlington High School. On July 25, 1959, he was united in marriage to Donna Joan Stewart in Burlington. Marshal worked for J.I. Case Company as a machinist, retiring in 1992. After retirement he worked for the City of Burlington as a groundkeeper for Perkins Park. Marshal was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and most of all spending time with his family.
Marshal will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna; son, Jeff (Annette) Peterson of Burlington; grandchildren, Sarah (Joe) O’Brien, Joel (Samantha) Peterson and Kyle (Rachel) Peterson; great-grandchildren, Tyler O’Brien, Emily O’Brien, Nora Peterson and Parker Peterson; son-in-law, Gene Russell of Coralville; sister, Arlene McCannon of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.
Marshal was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Denise Russell; brothers, LeRoy Peterson and Richard Peterson and sisters, Viola Key and Marie Carter.
