Marlene Belzer, 72, of Mediapolis, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Wapello Specialty Care. At her request, no service will be held.
Lois Marlene Buffington was born on April 28, 1952, in Muscatine, the daughter of Rex and Nellie (Eversmeyer) Buffington. She graduated from Wapello High School in 1970. She was united in marriage to Terry Belzer on June 6, 1970. The couple later divorced. Marlene was united in marriage to Gary Brown on October 16, 2007. She was a school bus driver for almost 15 years before working at Goodyear (now Continental) in Mt. Pleasant, where she retired after almost 30 years. In her early years she enjoyed bowling and attending her kids school activities. After retirement, she loved reading romance novels, watching several TV shows, collecting various mementos, and attending Midwest Old Threshers.
Marlene will be deeply missed by her children; Rebecca (Mike Hayes) Neys of Rockton, IL; Eric Belzer of Seattle, WA; brother, Marvin (Peachie) Buffington of Wapello; sister, Cheryl (Robert) Curtis of Columbus Junction; sister-in-law JoAnn (Loren) Buffington of Roscoe, IL, and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary; sister, Leota Boling and brother, Loren Buffington, and ex-husband, Terry Belzer.
The Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Mediapolis is caring for the family. Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross as she was devoted to donating blood throughout her life. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservices.com.
