Maria A. Hancher, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Muscatine Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Washington County or the First Christian Church of Muscatine in memory of Maria. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Maria Anna Bergmeier was born on March 22, 1930, in Munich, Germany, the daughter of Johann and Therese (Schneider) Bergmeier. On February 10, 1980, Maria was united in marriage to Lowell “Knute” G. Hancher in Las Vegas. Maria worked at Thatcher Plastics and attended the First Christian Church in Muscatine.
Maria will be deeply missed by her children, Beate (Jerry) Keith of Muscatine, Eva (Willard) Buster of Washington, Debra (Tony) Salazar of Prescott, Arizona and Linda (Leo) Migneault of Tucson, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Velma Ferns of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and sister, Rosina Small of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Andy Ferns and one great grandson, Ryan Stoneking.
