Marjorie Arlene Foster was born on February 28, 1927 in Illinois City, the daughter of Herbert Warner and Nina (McGinnis) Foster. On October 21, 1950, Marge was united in marriage to Jules A. Gosset Jr., in Muscatine. Marge worked at Central Middle School in food service for 36 years and retired after celebrating her 86th birthday. She loved serving the kids who affectionately called her, “Grandma” or “Lunch Lady”. Marge loved running into one of “her kids” while out shopping. It meant a lot to know she had made such an impression on the kids, that they still recognized her years later. Marge enjoyed going to stock car races to see her grandson, Brian Birkhofer, race. Many a night you might find her watching between her fingers unless she was holding a cold Bud Light. She also enjoyed reading and was a John F. Kennedy, Brad Pitt and Tom Brady enthusiast.
Marge will be missed by her children, Larry (Chelly) Gosset, Sandy Birkhofer and Greg (Jenifer) Gosset, all of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Lisa Ford, Brian Birkhofer, Brad Gosset, Mindy Gosset and Jennifer Gosset and seven great-grandchildren.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jules on May 31, 1984 and four brothers, Earl, Keith, Jimmy and Herbie Foster.
