After retirement, Margaret and Jim had large gardens and traveled to many places with Hills Bank Friends Club and in their fifth wheel.  They spent the winters in Harlingen, TX for over 30 years.  They loved to square dance.  Margaret was a 4-H Leader for the Lucky Clovers for over 10 years.  She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree where she served an elder and member of the United Presbyterian Women leading and contributing efforts toward preparing church dinners.  She was known for the lovely flowers she shared from her gardens.  She was active in Farm Bureau Women, the Half Hour Club and several quilting groups over the years.  Quilting was a passion.  She won several ribbons at the county fair and she also volunteered to make quilts for those in need while in Texas.  She and Jim helped children in the Harlingen schools with their reading.  She volunteered in the Floral Hall needlework division during the Louisa County Fair.  She was an expert sewer and loved teaching her family how to sew.  She loved to fish, hunt and go mushroom hunting.
