Mae E. (Blum) Martin

Mae E. Martin, 94, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Colonial Manor.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.  Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Columbus Junction American Legion.  Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wapello or the Columbus Junction American Legion in memory of Mae.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Mae Elizabeth Martin was born on January 19, 1927, in Wellman, Iowa the daughter of William H. and Louise A. (Ossman) Blum.  She was a 1946 graduate of Wellman High School.  Mae taught for 2 years at a country school and on December 12, 1947, was united in marriage to Earl R. Martin in Wellman.  Later they moved to Columbus Junction where she worked at Restopia and then Nash Finch for 21 years.  She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wapello, Cedar Crest Country Club and the Columbus Junction American Auxiliary for 50+ years.

Mae will be deeply missed by her children, Larry (Tammy) Martin of Columbus Junction and Lora (Paul) Morgan of Columbus Junction; four grandchildren, Shane Morgan, Ryan (Robin) Morgan, Kim (Joe) Smith and Earl (Jennie) Martin and eleven great grandchildren, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Lauryn, Peyton, Alyssa, Brandon, Lillian, Adalynn, Paxton, Gabbie and Austin.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl and siblings, Clarence Blum, Donald Blum, Marion Blum, Jim Blum, Lillian Graf, Viola Sexton, Gayle Rarick and Jeanette Sexton.
